NEW YORK, NY -- September 5, 2012 -- NEXT: A Division of Birthright Israel Foundation launched an interactive map of High Holiday services and celebrations, allowing young adults across the country to easily find meaningful opportunities, many of which are free or discounted. More than 324 services and events in 175 U.S. cities are represented in the online tool, part of NEXT’s High Holiday Guide. The map is paired with a unique resource guide featuring a primer on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur rituals and customs, traditional recipes and fasting tips, and links to NEXT’s themed Pinterest boards.
With one click, the interactive map provides details about an organization’s location, denomination, contact information, reservations and discounts or free tickets available to Birthright Israel alumni and young adults. This is the second year NEXT offered this online tool; in 2011 it was the most visited page on NEXT’s site.
“NEXT recognizes that many young adults have a strong desire to celebrate the Jewish holidays, but can find it difficult to navigate and connect to local opportunities. We created an interactive map to address this challenge, since we know the Birthright Israel generation uses digital tools to find real-world experiences,” said Morlie Levin, CEO of NEXT. “Our searchable map, which highlights a diverse array of services and events around the country, is one more way NEXT is making communities more transparent and open to our alumni and their circle of friends, with whom they often celebrate holidays.”
Birthright Israel alumni consistently participate in NEXT’s holiday partnerships, grants and programs, which are designed to empower young adults to take ownership of their Jewish lives. NEXT’s collection of resource guides—including those for Passover, Shavuot, Tu B’Shvat, Purim and an upcoming Sukkot guide—aim to make the holidays more accessible to Birthright Israel alumni.

NEXT: A Division of Birthright Israel Foundation connects Birthright trip alumni and their peers with meaningful Jewish living and learning opportunities nationally, locally and in Israel. We also work to create a Jewish community that is ready to receive alumni, who possess diverse needs, interests and inclinations. By investing in and convening those who work with young Jewish adults, as well as offering resources and thought-leadership, we catalyze growth and stimulate opportunities for engagement. www.birthrightisraelnext.org
