Our mission at the Birthright Israel Foundation is to build our base of financial support to assure that the gift of a 10-day Birthright Israel educational trip is available to every Jewish young adult.
Our base of support has grown exponentially in recent years, to some 25,000 individual donors today. Our donors come from the ranks of Birthright Israel alumni, their parents, and individuals who support our mission. Broadening our base of support is key to our growth strategy.
We also continue to rely on support of our founding partners, the Government of Israel and Jewish communities around the world – represented by the Jewish Federations of North America, the Jewish Agency for Israel and Keren Hayesod as well as a small group of committed philanthropists.
Our annual campaign directly funds Birthright Israel trips. The cost of the trip is $3,000 per participant, including round-trip airfare, overnight accommodations, most of the meals, and other associated land costs. Birthright Israel is currently working toward an annual participation goal of 51,000 beginning in the next few years. If this number can be sustained over a decade, the program will be reaching more than half the eligible applicants, effecting lasting change for the future of the Jewish people.
