Taglit-Birthright Israel is the most ambitious and successful Jewish outreach program ever undertaken, offering Jewish young adults from around the world free, educational trips to Israel. By January 2009, 200,000 young people from 52 countries around the world will have connected to the land and people of Israel through these ten-day trips.
This year, thousands of young Jews ready to make their connection to Israel were left behind because we didn't have the resources to bring them along. Research shows that participants in the program have a vastly different Jewish future than those we've had to leave on the leave behind. Participants are more likely to:
- pursue Jewish education
- participate more in Jewish organizations
- want to raise a Jewish family
- stay connected to what's happening in Israel
